Welcome to your Nervous System

Ever feel like you’re doing all the things — eating clean, trying to meditate, going to yoga — but still feel anxious, foggy, or just plain off? 


You’re not alone. Most of us are walking around with a nervous system that’s doing its best to keep us safe… but might be stuck in overdrive (or freeze).


Your nervous system is the behind-the-scenes boss of everything: how you breathe, digest, sleep, focus, and even how deeply you feel joy or connection. If it’s dysregulated, healing gets harder, intuition gets quieter, and even rest can feel like a chore.


This page (and quiz here!) is to help you tune in, decode what your body’s been trying to tell you, and find your way back to balance — with breath and awareness.


Let’s meet your nervous system. 


✨ Autonomic Nervous System: Your Body’s Inner Control Center

You don’t have to think about blinking, digesting food, or breathing in your sleep — your nervous system handles it all. It keeps you alive and determines how safe you feel inside your body.


Here’s how the system works in three main states:


Sympathetic Nervous System - “Fight or Flight”

Think: gas pedal to the floor.

This state is activated by stress, deadlines, danger, or even overstimulation. 

It’s meant to help you survive — but when you stay here too long, you might feel:

  • Anxious, restless, irritable
  • Trouble sleeping or digesting
  • Racing thoughts or tight chest
  • Overthinking everything


Parasympathetic Nervous System — “Rest, Digest & Heal”

Ahh, the sweet spot.

This state allows your body to recover, process food, feel emotions, and repair. It feels like:

  • Calm breathing, clear thoughts
  • Healthy digestion
  • Feeling grounded, creative, open
  • Safe in your body and in relationships


Dorsal Vagal / Freeze State — “Shut Down Mode”

This is the emergency brake.

If the stress gets too intense for too long, your system might check out. You may feel:

  • Numb, foggy, or disassociated
  • Fatigued or “wired but tired”
  • Like you’re watching life happen but not really in it
  • Overwhelmed by even small tasks



The Enteric Nervous System — Your Gut Brain

Yep, you have a second brain — and it lives in your belly. 

The enteric system is packed with neurons that communicate with your brain and help you digest food, regulate mood, and even guide your intuition.


If your gut’s unhappy, your mind will be too.
